Oil smell after changing?
I changed the oil in WRX last week and since I have done this when the engine warms up a get a oil smell (no smoke) coming from the turbo area of the engine bay. (can only smell it when at a standstill)
I have checked the bay from any leaking oil and cannot find any, also nothing on the downpipe / turbo exterior either.
I have not noticed this smell before could it be due to new oil or something more serious about to happen.
I always let the car warm up before any boosting takes place.
Car - MY95 WRX
Oil - Castrol GTX Magnatec 10W/40 (The car has always been using this oil, but should I change it for something better? )
Thanks
Paul

Ok.... sounds like just teh rocker cover leaking tbh..
Possibility that the oil is thinner than what was in it and is leaking now, 93-95cars seem to be the most popular for leaking rocker cover gaskets, i did do one on a 97 car last week though..
best way to diagnose, get a torch and shine down the side of the drivers rocker cover... you will see the up pipe to the turbo, if you can see burnt black deposits on it.... hey presto..
IMHO it will deffo be this.. i must have done 20+ of these for people. Not including both my scoobs.
Also if it is deffo this, get it sorted asap.. before the oil soaks into the heat shield bolts and they start rattling... also an old WRX trait..
