Default "Bolt on 450bhp Turbo"

As in the Scoobyshop that flashed up above?

http://shop.scoobynet.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductID=1143

This is a standard TD05/06G with a 20G compressor wheel isn't it?

As per our 450bhp discussion before....

It combines the high flowing TD06h turbine wheel with a 49lb/min compressor wheel
Seeing as there is also a scoobyshop entry for a TD05/06 20g rated at 400hp, I don't think they are the same.

No, it is a TD06H with a 49lb compressor wheel. 450 is a conservative and appropriate claim for it IMHO.

Edit, sorry, belated reply, must refresh "open in new window" pages before replying if they are controversial topics

As far as I can see, spoolup isn't good enough for surge to be much of an isse on a 2.0.

Most proven in the scooby world on 2.5 engines, well proven on 2.0 DSMS though.

Yes it's a Deadbolt superzilla. I had one of the very first ones.

This turbo would work on a 2.0 but would really benefit from an 8000rpm limit, and spool up (ie 1 bar or more) 4000-4500rpm.

Sorry if it sounds dumb but what are then the diferences between the "450 bolt on turbo" td05/06-20g and the AndyFs td05/06-20G "over 400"?

Not a dumb question, this is an ongoing discussion involving UK based suppliers and customers

TD05H-20G specifies both compressor "20G" and turbine "TD05H" sides

Full list of permutations

Thanks madou, the turbo world is quite complicated itself and if you add to this my limited English knowledge, to choose a turbo can result in a real headache.

Note: Edited to delete wrong guesses

Andy and Zen are both deadbolt dealers. The TD05/06 20g uses the td05h turbine, only the compressor side is TD06 based, using the 20g compressor wheel.

THere are options to use the large TD06h turbine in conjunction with the 20g compressor side. Then beyond that you are looking at using a large compressor wheel than the 20g, which is where you get the "450hp bolt on turbo" from. 450hp is probably conservative, certainly so with good fuel (ie octane booster, race fuel or methanol added).

And what injectors are recomended for both td05/06-20g and tdo5/06-20g 450 hp rated in a ej207 with a walbro?

Are the PE ones a good choice or is there other better brand?

If you're wanting 450bhp you're not going to get that on 550's IMHO
Go for the Tomei 740cc ones as sold by ANDYF in the Scoobyshop section on here.

I´ll be really pleased if I hit 400hp with my MY03 STi setup (zilla 05-20g, coated headers/uppipe, turboback, ram air, light pulleys, injectors, Ecutek...).

I´m looking for the PE ones since I can get a very nice deal on them, and I would like to know what to choose, 650cc or 800cc.

i'm at the point of ordering a td06h 20 g for my EJ20 from deadbolt
But what kind of lag/spoolup can i expect.
Or am i better off with the td05h 20g from deadbolt

currently running a JDM 6speed so i don't mind a bit of lag

If you're in the UK you would need to contact one of the deadbolt dealers really.

Your choice of turbo is going to depend on your power goals really.

400hp on plain optimax or with a slight dose of octane booster?

Optimax will make 400hp at the upper limit of what the TD05/06-20g can do, but it's certainly possible. TD06h turbine wheel certainly adds a little lag and some useful power gains. Not seen/done a direct comparison, but either are good turbos.

On a 2.5 for a safe 400hp I would be tempted to go with the 06h turbine, and leave the 05h turbine in place on a 2.0
