Default BHP and TQ decrease with EcuTech -5 retard

HI all,

Have not been on in a while.

I have come to the conclusion that the gas here really sucks ! LOL

Back on the stock ecu, still have the full SS decat with restrictor adjustment to keep boost under control.

Was getting det on the KL at like 75% throttle and only 5000 rpms.....Advance Multiplier would drop to like 4 !!!!! Something had to change so......

I went into EcuTech DD and adjusted the retard by the full 5 points.

My question is roughly how much BHP and TQ have I lost by making this retard adjustment and are there any other negative side affects driving around like this all the time (obviously except for the lower BHP and TQ) ?

What do you think my car is running, was stock 276 BHP and 270 TQ as tested on 100 RON. With decat (which probably helped and now retard (which hurt) due to crap fuel any guesses on current BHP and TQ?

Cheers,
Ray

Car: JDM STi - 7 full decat 35k kms

Thanks John
If you HAD to guess what would you say my car is running bhp an TQ wise with standard ecu, full decat zorst (about 1.25 max boost spike in 4th) 30 C ambient temps, 98 RON gas (maybe not though) and +5 retard on the ecutech timing pull thingy.

265 BHP 255 TQ ?

Cheers,
Ray

Sounds reasonable. Most importantly, has the retard shut up the knocklink?

It has made a huge difference. The ambient temps are about 25 - 27 C right now and I get 2 greens on WOT in almost any gear. I will sometimes get one amber randomly.

All this leads me to believe that Esso Gas has given me false information and that their gas is significantly lower than 99 - 98 RON. I can't see that RON level still giving me an amber with 5 degree retard everynow and then on stock ECU and decat, 27 C and stock boost levels. I should barely see one green light under these conditions with 5 degree retard IMHO.

Thoughts ?

Cheers,
Ray

Consider a bit of octane booster as well and see if the knocklink is quieter still?

Hi John,

I have am using the Super 104+ racing formula octane booster. In the test they did comparing octane boosters in raised the RON octane rating about 0.8 so not the most affective stuff. I would like to get a hold of some better stuff but the best they sell is the NOS octane booster which is about 1.8 point RON increase. I think the NF tested at 2.8 but they don't sell that in the USA or here (The Bahamas) and I don't want to ship it from the UK

Cheers,
Ray
