Question crank oil seal

is the crank oil seal a standard size on an ej20

Are they original parts or patent?
Front or rear seal mate? Ie. crank pulley or flywheel end..

not sure if its related, but i heard that sealant should be used to prevent the seal from displacing this could give you a prob,

the other is the lip seal may have been damaged on fitting

I would tend to agree there, there is a small wire spring that fits inside the seal.
This can come off if inserted incorrectly, not questioning your ability here it is something i have seen.
Also agree that a smear of sealant is wise on the outer edge of the seal, thsi will stop it popping out usually.

One last q, are you 100% the seal is getting pushed fully home?
