Definatley dont go for the oil based kits such as HKS. K&N are ok, but you are better off going for an sti panel filter (about £40) from www.scoobymania.co.uk. This just sits in your original airbox. This do'nt mess up the afm and actually use a cold air source, unlike normal induction kits.
Used to have a Power Engineering K&N induction kit. Swapped it for the sti panel filter. All of the performance and none of the Darf Vadar noises!

Issue 1 of Scooby magazine did a feature on Panel filters. STi Panel filter gave suprisingly poor results (worse than standard filter)!! Green Cotton Panel was the best but only gave a slight increase in torque.

Induction kits can draw warm air in from the engine without a proper cold air feed.
They can also lean out the engine as well kill your MAF. This can be put done to poor filtration, excessive vibration and, as mentioned above, oil from the filter coating the MAF.
Stick with the original airbox and uprated filter.
If need be remove the resonator box in the OSF wing

Just to add people do run with induction kits and have no problems what-so-ever as well.
