Question Gearbox and rear diff oil?

I'm starting to enjoy this sharing of info. Soo to perhaps to start another long thread what oils to use in the gearbox and rear diff. At the moment I'm using Amsoil series2000 fully synthetic in the gearbox 75-90. The rear diff has been a worry cos IM say the 75-90 is fine but a Subaru specialist said an LSD oil was right so i'm using Silkolene BOA 90. Any comments?

I believe Red Line Heavy ShockProof Gear Oil is the best.

I use redline shockproof in the track car- to be honest it probably massive overkill for a road car.

Get some Castrol Syntrax 75w90 and wou won't go far wrong.

Redline Heavy is probably too thick, the lightweight (smurf p1$$) might be better, even for the rear diff.

The red stuff is very very thick. People use the red stuff for rally use here.

If you're going to use something from the Silkolene range then I would say that Silkolene SYN 5 75w-90 would be more approriate.

" Fully Synthetic gear oil for manual transmissions and final drive units including road and competition limited slip differentials"

Data sheet here: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/lubricants.htm

Thanks all. Cos I keep cars a long while cost of oils is not important. I just want to make sure I don't have to rebuild engine or 'box on roadcar cos I haven't had to do that since I were a youth messing with Cooper Ss and 1000cc Imps.Trouble is I've never seen so much discussion and differing views on lubrication as I've seen on the Scooby sites.

The truth is it wouldn't be so complicated if it was simple, using the correct oils is important although many people are uninterested or uneducated.

As suggested Redline Lightweight is very good as ELF HTX732, difficult to find it but very good gearbox oil often used for racing!
