Default What backbox should I upgrade to from a Prodrive one??

Currently got a MY00 PPP, therefore got a Prodrive rear box hanging out the back, which I must say doesn't sound too bad with the centre non-res decat pipe, and the car also doesn't move too shyly either!

However, what can I move onto now that will sound slightly different and burbly. Would like something a touch louder which will not affect performance (unless it makes it quicker of course!!).

I dont want to be heard several light years away but a bit more gurgle burble would be good (especially in a tunnel ). Don't really know what many other back boxes sound like - just fancy a change. Have tried a front decat too but had to take it off because the PPP ECU got the **** with it!!

1. Any Ideas?

2. Would I be doing the right thing here or should I just leave it and behave myself?

..............??

I've got just the thing!!

See this thread for details
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=367875

I had an MY00 with full decat inc. this backbox and the sound was superb - not the absolute loudest around I'm sure, but it really brought out the flat four burble.
Then my wife had our son and decided it was too loud!!
I changed the backbox to a Prodrive one and she was happy!

I kept the backbox with the intention of putting it back on once the new born got a bit older, but I've recently traded the car for an MY03 - so surplus to requirements!

P.S. My MY03 has PPP but with a Hayward & Scott backbox - positively dull in comparison.

P.P.S. I'm open to offers.

Cheers,

Rick.

I stayed with just the back box.....a bit quieter than the full system and a bit more warranty friendly as the CATS are still in place....for now!

I have just fitted the Ninja back box and there resonated centre, great low down burble. The fit and build is spot-on, and at cruising on the motorway the noise is not intrusive.
I fitted the PPP to MY99, and I did find that when the Ninja was fitted, from the original system, the torque curve seem to move up the rev range by about 500 revs, but it seems to pull even harder when it gets there. This was after an ECU re-set

Get a P1, it only has 1 big sports cat in the downpipe. So you can fit a full system without worrying about removing any cats and it'll be perfectly legal*.

*Apart from the noise that's loud enough to wake the dead!

The H&S backbox gets my vote: great deep burble, but settles down on a steady throttle and won't make the neighbours hate you! :-) Its very much down to personal choice though. Have a listen to a few.

Best

I'd keep it if I were you mate. If the old Bill stop you for being too noisy, you may just have to bolt it back on! See the couple of threads on the subject of being pulled for noise recently.
