Unhappy nasty noise

I wonder if any one could shed some light on a very nasty noise from the g/box/front d/shafts it happens when the clutch first bites in revese and forwards when pulling off it sounds kike two pices,s of broken metal banging together nothing when driving yet. any surgestions

I have the same problem on my type ra1 ive just bought, took it to a specialist import garage who said it was slop in the rear drive shafts, although not urgent do need replacing soon ( more expence )

This could well be the up pipe from the exhaust manifold to the turbo, they make a dreadful racket when the flexi joint in the middle breaks or weakens and the heatshields come loose. S'worth a look.

thanks for the replys but thre d/pipe is a decat ive just gone out in it and there is some noise when you back off on the throttle

mine an ra too but its definately the front you can feelit through the car

Yeah, but I'm talking about the UP pipe which is the pipe UP from the exhaust manifold TO the turbo not the downpipe. It's possible that you have disturbed the heatshields and so on.
