I have recently bought an impreza wrx import 1995 version. And was told by the seller that in order to stop the knock sensor from being activated and then the engine management light coming on i have to use super unleaded petrol. I have also been told that if i use unleaded (95 ron) and use an octane booster additive this would be okay. can anyone tell me if this is the case and what is the best booster product to use?.

Think you should be using SUL as a minimum plus octain booster.

 

I'd run it on Optimax as a minimum.. + booster if you can.

it is more a case of stopping knock and the engine dying than stopping the engine light coming on..
