Question Oil???????

This is probably a much repeated thread.

I have got an STi8 ppp 04 reg and I want to get some top up oil.

Recommended oil is 5W 30. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what would be the best choice.

Has it had it's first service (1000mls)? If not, 5/30 is probably what it's got at the moment. If the first service has been done it's probably got something like Castrol Magnatec 10/40 or Shell Helix 10/40 (both semi-synthetic) depending on what the dealer uses.

Cheers John

Yes it has had it's first service (getting close to it's 2nd one) I had been told that Magnatec 5/30 was not a bad choice, so I'm quite glad to see that one come up. Thanks for your your advice mate.

Steve
Stay away from 5/30 from now on. If you're going to use Magnetec, use the 10/40 grade.

Hi John

Will do.

Because I'm fairly new to all this, what are the reasons for going for the 10/40 over the 5/30?
