Exclamation just what does the 5th injector do.......

in an ra's engine?


done a search, no luck and never read ANYTHING about it before...so any clue's?

Default Injector

I believe it sits there doing nothing until you are giving it some, right near the limit.

It's an extra source of fuel injection should the engine need it. The ECU brings it into play when required, most of the time tho i believe it's redundant.

IIRC (but it has been a while) Andy F found that it does nothing on the road car. That would mean it's only there for homologation purposes.

Mind you, I could be wrong.

Im sure thats right.....nothing on road cars its there for homo purposes.

It does nothing on a road RA but it was put there so the Grp N cars could run it Because they fitted to a production car they could use it in a Grp N car At the time it put Subaru ahead of Mitsu****i in the Grp N in the Production Rally World You need GEMS or Motec to fire the 5th injector The std ECU just isnt mapped to trigger it

PS if anyone has a RA 92-96 and isnt gonna put GEMS or Motec on it I will swap my 95 STI inlet manifold for yours
