Question Lambda Sensor

Just bought a whole new exhaust system for the scoob as the downpipe was rotten !!

Problem is, we couldn't get the Lambda Sensor off the old downpipe to put onto the new one.

Do we need a Lambda Sensor for the MOT or can we just buy a Lambda Blanking Plug and still get it through an MOT???

You dont just need it for the MOT, you need it to stop yer car from eating too much fuel and to stop blowing up!!

It tells the ecu how much fuel to give the engine on closed loop fuelling.

Sarah,

Exact same thing happened to me last mth when getting my d/p fitted. Old Lambda was threaded so new one had to go on.

£55+vat from AWD in Perth. Might get cheaper elsewhere though.......

My engine recently went - I had a dp fitted and I dont believe the lambda sensor is on it - think its still in the old catted dp.

Is it definitely a necessity?

That is the situation that I am in. We had to chage the DP as the old one was rotten but we decided to put on a new exhaust system which has no cat on it.
I couldn't get the sensor off the old one as it is so rotten
