Exhaust upgarde, help
Hi
I am about to purchase a `95 WRX with a standard exhaust system.
I wanted to upgrade the system piece by piece and just wanted to know the best place to start (ie De-cat or back box)
Any feedback would be appriciated.
Thanks
Paul

...I started with an aftermarket backbox to release the flat four burble.
All sorts available depending on level of noise/tone/performance you want.
I then decated the down pipe ( Classics have one cat in the D/P and one in the centre section) A decated downpipe releases considerably more Bhp and gives the engine a lovely grunt to it. ( Alternatively get a sports cat in the D/P to save alot of bother at MOT time ...but much more expensive then an ordinary decatted D/P ).
Finally i decated the centre section. But keep your catted centre section for MOT time as you will struggle to pass the emissions tests if you don't put it back on for testing time....and even then the engine needs to be nice and hot.
So in my opinion, get a backbox to suit your taste first...and enjoy. Then save up the pennies for a decat downpipe and release the power.....and enjoy it some more

...Excellent chioce of backbox if i may say so
Sounds awesome!!
I have my Scoobyworld Afterburner which is made for them by Hayward & Scott fitted to an H&S downpipe and H&S centre section. I'm very pleased with the whole quality of the system.
