Remove your Intercooler and take the 'Y' piece pipe off from underneath and check it for oil.If you are running higher than standard boost you will get a build up of sludge in the intercooler pipework which can leak out.

With the Intercooler off you will also be able to see any potentail problems better.

Is this sludge a bad thing or something i got to live with as for boost im running about 1.2-1.3 bar which is around standard for the wrx.

The oil looks like its sprayed there but cannot see any place where it could have come from

This is a real guess, but having just taken my turbo off my Sti v3, there is an oil line to the turbo which is buried behind lots of steel bracketry, just behind the downpipe. I could see some oil escaping from the banjo connection as mine was surprisingly easy to undo.
Get it fixed ASAP!
