Default Want to spend some money!!!!!!

I have a MY01 WRX. It has done 45k miles. It has an ITG Panel filter fitted. I am looking to spend 1000 -1500 on mods in August. .

My requirements are

Exhaust noise should be no more that 10% louder than the standard. (I would prefer no increase if poss.)
No worsening of MPG
Reduction of the understeer to a more neutral handling.
Increase in primarily torque, secondly in BHP. I want drivable power.
And if possible a smoothing of the delivery of power particularly in the mid range.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

One possible solution you could take is.

Ecutek remap should sort out your power requirements. And then get down to Powerstation and get the geometry done with the bumpsteer mod, which should sort out your handling requirement.

But if you want to keep your warranty then for more power you'll have to go for the PPP which will take all your budget, so you'll need to save a bit more for the handling mods.

Dave.

If it's a MY01 then the warranty has probably already expired or will do shortly.

If you're worried about MPG then you've bought the wrong car I'm afraid as you'll do well to get more than 250 miles from a single tank of Optimax or SUL. That said, a few minor performance mods shouldn't decrease the MPG by much if at all (the ECUTEK sometimes increases it I think).

If you don't want an increase in noise then a decat is out of the question.

An ECUTEK re-map is the best way forward but this is limited without the decat (although you can replace the cat in the downpipe with a sports cat and a say a PPP backbox which shouldn't be too loud).

Handling wise I don't think new age cars really need the bump steer mod (as opposed to the classics). Some Prodrive/Eibach springs plus a decent allignment set up should be sufficient (at least I find it is).

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly to be more specific.

Cheers

Chris

you could go for a de cat and a STI backbox should, that should keep the noise down
(sti back box's are always in the for sale section)
then get a tek 3 by Bob Rawles
then a geometry and anti roll bar done at powerstation ( forget the bump steer it was done at the factory on the new age cars )

I went for prodrive springs and geometry - this is the biggest smile per buck on the bugeyes
