Default Oh no - I cant beleive this :-(

Driving to work this mornig ,changed into 3rd felt like i missed but
in was in gear.Thought thats strange so slowed down changed gear again
and lots of noise, crunching, rattling etc .Now no gears and its seems to be wedged in 2nd .The car is a RB5 with the shortshift box so am hoping there is somewhere that does rebuilts at a sensible rate
Any ides where i could get one 2nd hand or help

do you mean the gear lever is stuck in the 2nd positon and wont move, or your able to move the gear lever through positon 1-5+R but car stays in 2nd gear.

The gearbox will change ok when its parked with the engine running .

The RB5's 'box is no different to the standard MY99 gearbox, its only the Prodrive quickshift linkage that differentiates it from standard spec.

A used MY99 box should be easy to find.... Grade A, Midland Impreza etc.

My old MY00 had to have the linkages redone, apparently some split pin shears on the end of the linkages, and the cogs work looser and looser until u can't get any gears, mine was done under warranty at 2 years old and 34000 on the clock, it started with 3rd, migrated to 5th as well, (it would pop out under accelleration) dealer eventually replaced it.
