What are the benefits of HKS FCD and AFR?
I have a 95 WRX Import with the following mods:
Full Decat
Apexi Full System
HKS Powerflow Induction kit
Blitz dual SBC-r Boost Controller
Blitz Dump Valve
The car is able to run 1.1 bar no problem. What benefits would i have if i added an HKS FCD and HKS AFR?, or does the boost controller deal with the fueling and air/fuel ratios?
Not very clued up on this techy stuff as have only had the car a couple of weeks and was used to having a Fiesta RS Turbo before i got one of these beasts.

AFR - monitors the air/fuel ratio and lets you know that the cars not running lean, I believe.
FCD - Fuel cut defencer. there is a fuel cut set at (on uk cars) 1.15 (?) bar boost pressure, when the car exceeds this limit it stops violently!! a defencer removes this to allow higher boost than subaru first intended

The HKS AFR adjuster allows you to richen or lean the mixture out across the whole rev range. Its not an ideal solution but if used with sensible increases in boost can safegaurd your engine and produce good results for the fraction of a cost of a remap. You can't really damage your engine from Richening it out to much (apart from bore wash in extreme conditions) but leanening it out too much will kill your engine quickly. Basically use the FCD to raise the fuel cut limit and AFR to richen up the mixture to cope with the extra boost. I had very good results using just the above.
