Default Is flywheel on UK Spec and WRX the same?

I have a 95 WRX and the clutch is going and have been told that the flywheel usually needs refaced when they go.

Can anyone tell me if the UK and WRX flywheels are the same and does anyone have one lying about in good nick?

They are the same yes...

The only change was around 99 I think where they got about a 10mm larger, and even then you can fit a large flywheel and larger clutch to the earlier car.

My 96 flywheel was fine with 124,000miles on it, fitted a new clutch and didn't replace flywheel and still okay with no judder on a Borg and Beck clutch with now 147,000miles on the clock.

If you want a secondhand flywheel try..

HDC Subaru.. whose website I think is www.hdcsubaru.com

Cheers for the quick response simon.

Was looking to change the clutch this weekend, so hopefully wont need to buy a flywheel. Only 50k on the car!

If im running around 300bhp could u suggest what clutch to use and some prices, dont want a paddle as too sore on gearbox's!

It is possible that the flywheel might have high spots on it but you won't know for sure until you get to see it and I would say there is more chance of it being fine. Others say it must be skimmed if you have clutch judder.. mine juddered like mad before the swap, swapped it and it has no judder now

Standard clutches seem to vary with how much they will take, I am running similar power and the borg and beck has been fine which is standard spec.. bought from Autospares.. will look the url up in a minute.. if you intend upping the power more then you would do well to ring and talk to mark at www.lateralperformance.co.uk phone number on the website I think.

I also expect www.camskill.com do a reasonable standard spec clutch.

Got the clutch off at the weekend and the face of the flywheel had all hairline cracks on it, arghhh.

Luckily enough a mate had a lightened one for me
