My99/00 New 'green marked' Cam Belt Tensioner - have you had yours done
My old 'blue marked' tensioner used to knock occasionally on start up.
Therefore when the belt was changed last month I had a new design 'green marked' one fitted.
All is now fine, and no re-occurence of the knock from start-up has been noticed. But I have noticed that there appears to be increased belt noise since replacing the cambelt. It's the same sound that I used to get on my RS Escort and Cosworths if the mechanical cam belt tensioner was slightly over tightened.
I, and my mechanic are assuming that the new tensioner, tensions slightly tighter then the old in order to fix the design fault with the original.
All idler wheels where checked and spun up well during the change, so we doubt there is a problem there.
Primarily the point of this post is to see if anyone else running the new tensioner has noticed and increase in belt noise.

I did mine when I had the 99MY but never changed the belt. There was no increase in belt noise. It may be that a new belt is running on well polished pulleys and idlers. You could remove the right hand (viewed from the front) cover and have a listen while it's running. It's not the fan belt or air-con belt too tight? - as they've been off too.

Have you checked if there's a clearance between the belt and the little tin plates by the crank and LH inlet cam pulleys.
If one of these is touching it will squeak like mad and be polishing the back of the cambelt - not good!
