av just had a mate of a mate on the phone saying the rear box on his 93 wrx is now lying at the side of the road . would my old standard oem box from my 99 uk turbo fit his car or is he going to have to spend some cash?

 

Quite possibly. If you have the facility, get it up on some ramps and check. Look at the position of the middle most mounting bar, this seems to vary position between models.
