Question MRT top mounted intercooler

I am considering upgrading the intercooler on my 1993 WRX to an MRT one.

Has anyone fitted one to give me their comments on improvements ?.

Not to a 93, but I have one on my MY97.

I run an 05 turbo at 1.4bar quite happily on mine with quite impressive results.

An FMIC is obviously the best way to go, but if you want to keep the car fairly standard looking, then the uprated TMIC is a good compromise.

Where did you get yours from ?.

The only place I have found on the web in the UK is Jap Innovations and on their website at a cost of £878.80 whereas on MRT's website the cost is Aus $1,257.30 which equates to £516.66 so even with postage and packing at say £50.00-£75.00 it would still cost nearly £300 less (albeit it would take a while to arrive).

I dont have one but have looked on their site and find the prices nowhere near close to other peoples. Maybe they dont use Royal mail so can promise this year delivery!!

Long time no 'hear' from you Le Mans!
Had a large TMIC on my Stiv3 @ 1.31 bar. will make a noticable difference on a cool morning or when moving at speed. Doubt that you will see much in slow motoring where the bonnet scoop cannot get the airflow. When going 'slowly' the larger TMIC would soak-up the residue underbonnet heat al itself let alone the induction air!
I sold mine last year and refitted my Sti original, much less aluminium to cool down.
Maybe this will help? I think I would be tempted to go for a stock Sti from 1997 on (non slanted design). Cost about £200 or less.

ps, duty will be added to the Oz unit plus vat etc so beware.

The price quoted on MRT's site is not including, shippinfg, import duty and VAT.

Expect to pay well over £100 easily for shipping. It is coming 11000 miles mate and it's not small!

Then add VAT and import duty (about 5% IIRC) and that explains the price difference.

The prices on the Jap site include VAT.

Lead time is about 6 weeks.
