My vote goes to Pat also,i wouldnt trust some of the more so-called reputable Ecutek mappers on here, value for money and a good service is what counts and for that,Pat is the man.

Must admit, I was interested in this as well. Being a lazy ****, I very much liked the sound of...

The remapping can be carried out either at our premises or at your home or business address.

Would trust Pat to map my car for sure and have done. I don't think any others have as much understanding of what goes on mechanically, electronically, chemically, thermodynamically and fluid dynamically as Pat does (with the possible exception of andy f though not sure of his electronics).
Have used bob on more than one occasion and as well as being a very nice bloke he also instills confidence. Surprisingly fast driver too!

In the would or in the UK?? ;-)
I would go for Mark at EMS, but he lives in Holland.
John Banks did my first map, nothing to complain about, the other one was made by Mark and that one is working wonders every day :-D

As nobody has mentioned Marc Amblard yet, I suppose I will. Best mapper I've met, although I've not had the pleasure of Bob or Pat's services as yet.
Incidentally, what's the point of this thread? Are the "top two" supposed to be put in a ring and given three rounds to fight for the official title or summat?

the reason for the thread is that I am considering a performance upgrade on my 99 Turbo and was lokking for names of experienced and competent people to do a remap for me.
There apears to be a suden increase in remaping specialists and to be honest I don't want any monkey tampering with my car.
I am considering a PPP with scoobyworld and was trying to find out who remaps there ECUs, I belive it is Pat

Ah, might it not have been a good idea to say all that up front, and not, as Ozzy says above, ask nebulous questions like "Who is the best remapper in the world"? If nothing else this would have saved both your time and ours being wasted by the mention of folk who either don't live in the UK, or don't do anything with roadgoing Imprezas.
Incidentally, the "PPP" is only available from Subaru dealers. Scoobyworld may sell performance upgrades, but they won't take that name. As for whether or not Pat does them, have you tried to ask them?

I don't care who he maps for, or what his reputation is.
He was recommended to map my engine on the bench dyno. Out of 400 ignition zones (from idle to 1 bar of boost) he used the same ignition value in 200 zones, and had only "mapped" 36, out of the 400 !!!!
The fuelling wasn't much better.
He wiped the datalogs, but Pat managed to extract some info, and we discovered that In total, he'd only spent 1 hour, and 16 min's mapping !!! IIRC, think they tried to charge me £800 + vat for that !!!
I rejected the work, and Pat, and I remapped it at DTW, getting FAR better results.
I'll chose Pat every time (so long as I'm there )
Mark.

having looked at this myself recently I can understand why you have asked this question all be it in a strange way.
It depends on where you live and how far you want to travel.
Pat Heborn (SP), has a very good reputation and works for a number of companies, What was scoobysport, scoobyworld and H & S and probably more.
Bob Rawle of BRD again has an excellent reputation and will be mapping my car.
Both of these are based in the South,
John Banks again has an excellent reputation, and I think is based in Scotland.
Richard Bulmer at TSL has a very good resume with different motorsports, but I didnt know how long he had been using ecutek for re-mapping subarus as I think TSL only started offering ecutek last year, probably not an issue, and is just my opinion.
Power Engineering, I think their mapper is actually working for ecutek full time now, so they do not have a anybody how can do a custom map from scratch, They have a range of default maps available which they can then slighty alter for your car. for example they probably wouldnt have a map if you had a hybrid turbo or bigger injectors or something. This did not install confidence when I visited them when a friend was having his car mapped, considering they charge the same as everybody else as well.
There are more mappers that i do not know of but to be honest choosing any of the people mentioned on scoobynet probably isnt a mistake its just down to your personal choice.
If you are that concerned you should probably look at PPP.
cheers
Peter

I think the question was a valid one, albeit a tad nebulous (you been reading your thesaurus again Greasemonkey...?! ). Questions are asked all the time regarding the best this and the best that. Why shouldn't the same be asked about ECU remappers...? After all, they're not all the same, and 800 odd quid's a fair amount of money to fork out.
I was just about to start a thread myself regarding Scoobyworld's remapper, as I quite like the idea of the remapper coming to me...
