Stands a good chance, as Scoobyworld don't appear on that list.

Pat works for himself, and is used by several companies for mapping their customer cars. He also offers his services direct.

I believe John Banks has officially retired, but still offers mapping on a limited scale.

Both Pat, and Bob are very experienced mappers, with a prooven track record, with results to support.

Best advice is to speak to both, and choose the one you are most comfortable with, and who's most convenient to use.

Mark.

LOL @ David

Ermmmm.....Pat had a..... shall we say, little play with my GEMS ECU (STi 8), a quick 15 minute session to see if we could lose the laggyness and lack of response that appeared to be mapped in which shouldnt have been there on the Garret GT cored Turbo.

A few slight adjustments and Wehey! Did someone put a different turbo on????

Spool, 800 RPM earlier then it went ballastic! roundabouts exiting with 4 wheels spinning ......

Very Talented in Mapping, Mechanical, Electronics & Engine Knowledge and a sound bloke too!

Wish I'd have had more time

Theres those that think they can map and theres a man that CAN

I'm sure theres a few GEMS ECU's (and other types) out there just crying out for PAT to map them properly

I don't do any mapping any more apart from for T-uk's car and mine. I mess up the electrics on his car and he undoes the tight bolts on mine

If I wanted mapping done I would see Bob Rawle no question.

To confirm, we use Pat for all our EcuTek remaps, and these can be carried out either at our premises (just outside Nottingham) or at your place or business / home by prior arrangement.

Pat also works for H&S, and what was Scoobysport, and has remapped our WRX03 to great affect.

I don't know much on the tec side but I have a my02 wrx which has had 2 different maps by two different mappers ( with no change of hardware)

First guy was a good chap and seemed to know what he was doing = very active knocklink big red far to many times

Took the car back (several times) and was told it was fine and to ignore the knocklink

In pops Bob Rawles, ever so helpful explained everything to me clearly so I know what was going on - he even went out with me with a set of det cans just to check if what the knocklink was saying was true

sadly the car needed remaping when he had finished even my girl friend was talking about boost and advanced timing

after the re map, i did have some problems (nothing to do with the map - was a bad batch of optimax ) Bob was help full through out, I had no problems emailing him and he always replyed even though it was not his problem

so i don't know who the best mapper in the world is BUT if you are looking for a mapper who won't try and sell you everything on the shelf, who tries to explain as much as he can about what he is doing to your pride and joy and who is always willing to help.... you cant go far wrong with Bob Rawles

Pat mapped my car also, and I was impressed by his tenacity and patience
Was also an awesome experience and having another 100 bhp odd extra after a short time was quite a thing... I have a LINK ecu.

I may use Pat again in the future for any tweaks, or I may use Bob Rawle down south.
Depends on my schedule more than anything..

I remember when Pat first mapped my Sti 5. We were both shocked with just how well it pulled. Agree with the comments on here, Pat really does know his S**t.

As for the best in the world, im not so sure, hes amongst the best around South of England and particularly on Subaru's it would seem. If only you could get hold of him, when needed

Agreed with WRX Rich.

Its a 510 miles round trip to Bobs to get mapped, but worth every mile.

Extremely knowledgible, and prepared to share this information with anyone that asks.

A good guy

Nobody has mentioned Steve Simpson so far. He has an excellent reputation as a GEMS expert (read about him in Japanese Performance) and I'll be getting him to do mine when I eventually manage to get one. He is based around the Town End Garage area (Carnforth, in the south of the Lake District) and will travel to you.

What are you implying about part throttle?

Pat (hopefully) will be doing mine on the dyno when it's time is due (not too long now - Woohoo!)

He also was involved in mapping my old P1

Well I have to add that Pat mapped my car. Some of the work being pro bono for which I will be eternally grateful.

Indeed, having been originally a little disappointed in my investment, a few tweaks on boost control and suddenly - wooooooooohooooooooooo!!!

And very first time out I got straight into the 11s quarters - so it can't be all bad!!

No one mentioned Andy F yet

Done all his own mapping to his own car, held the fastest impreza quarter mile time in Scotland for years, also has mapped most of the the other quickest impreza's in Scotland and probably even more in England?

Dunno about Steve, his after sales service is sh*te to start with.

Bob Rawle fitted and mapped my link.

I couldn't be happier with the service and the results.
Recommend BRD to anybody.

Have had Link installed and mapped by Bob Rawle and was delighted on my STi 2.

Have had Gems installed and mapped by Steve Simpson and was not delighted on the 22B.

Had Gems remapped by Bob and was over the moon with it.

Tim

Ps all of those who run off and tell tales to Steve please feel free to run off and do so now

Basically RaymondH,

Dont believe some of the ****e you read in magazines, you get favourable Advertisments (sorry articles) published if you advertise with them. They are very biased IMHO.

We arent allowed to comment on this as the thread will get deleted.
