Beware! This is a big job if you are using axlestands and trolley jacks!
I invested in a special gearbox stand which can be raised/lowered to move the box. The box is very heavy and awkward and there's not much room under there.
Only other special tool is a clutch alignment tool from Halfords. Get a universal type as the Scooby clutch is not the 'standard' Ford size most people use.
I finished my clutch change this weekend gone, wish I'd paid someone to do it!

Is it not easier to move the engine and leave the box in place? Don't know, just asking - did remove a clutch on the older L series (impreza under the skin) and we moved the engine forward and did it that way.

Beyond that it's a range of metric sockets and spanners, a pin drift, hammer and miscellaneous other bits and pieces.

When my landrover discovery clutch was replaced the guy doing the work pulled the engine, done the clutch and dropped it back in again, he reckoned it was a lot easier than taking out the gearbox on the "ground" but if you can get the height then do as the above suggest

Phone around!
My Scooby dealer charges about £250 labour, better if you catch him on a quiet week in the workshops!
There are loads of people to do it, find your local man. A decent 'village garage' can do the job too, but the trick on the clutch assy can baffle some (inc me, but I know now!)
If you follow Greasemonkey's advice you won't go far wrong. The Gearbox lift is a MUST, so is the clutch alignment tool! Normal Halford axle stands are too low!
Phone around, it is worth it. Bitch of a job!
