Question confused, please help?

coil packs, 4 of or so im led to believe.
where r they located as i have been told 2 things, 1 was at the base of the spark plugs in the block and the other was on top of the manifold i.e. the unit the ht leeds exit from.
if it is the latter how can there be 4?

On the early classics (>MY96) the coils are individual and are on top of each plug. No HT leads!!
MY97>MY99 they fitted a coil and HT leads. The coil is bolted to the centre of the intake manifold.
MY99/00 the coild is bolded to the intake man. but is offset to the passenger side.

I believe new age cars have gone back to individual coil packs on the plugs.

Hope that helps

sti5 should have the pack (one) on the manifold, with HT leads, as Dyney says.
not sure there is a way to 'test'. suggest you try swapping one over from another car if you susspect its brokendown internally. These rarely fail unlike the 'plug' individual ones from pre96's.
what are the symptons that have pointed you to the Coil Pack?
