Question Anything else i should consider ?

I'm currently awaiting Gems to be installed, so want to make sure i've got everything thats needed, before mapping.

It's an MY98 uk car.
List of mods so far.

VF30 Turbo
440cc Injectors
APS tmic
HKS headers / H&S up-pipe
Full decat-Nur SpecR
Walbro 255l/h pump
Blitz sus induction.

Hopefully i'll be getting a 3 port boost solenoid soon,
But should i do anything else ? Or should that suffice ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Johnny

Knock link and worth considering an uprated fuel pressure regulator.

Boost guage and Samco hoses. Upgraded plugs might help too.

Plugs were done when all the parts went in 2 weeks ago.

Oil ??? Standard Magnatec etc. might start to break down. I put in Motul MV300 when I went for the turbo / injectors / pump / headers transplant!

Thumbs up

Hi Mate

A few easy things to look at that wont cost you a fortune which you can easily sort out yourself.

1. Intercooler water spray. While waiting at the lights or in a Q at Santa Pod your intercooler is suffering from heat soak. This can cause loss of power or engine damage.

I redirected the headlight washers to my intercooler. Therefore you can manually pump cold water from your washer bottle onto the intercooler via the headlight washer switch on the dash. Remember to fill your washer with just water though. 2 x STi nozzles (approx £18 for 2), 1 x 'T' piece, 1 x reducer, 5 x tie wraps and some washer hose.
If you want to go the auto way have a look at a module from the Automatic water spray webpage they have covered. Unit is sold on Scoobynet shop. Circuit board not very well built but it does the job and cost me around £40.

2. Intercooler Splitter

You are not going to see huge gains but everything is made a little more efficient. If you disagree buy a little LCD temp guage from Maplin or RS and watch the core temp rise while standing still or flooring it. My mate in a P1 saw around 14deg core running temp and over 40deg while in a Q at Santa Pod the other week!!!!

Also if you have an induction kit fabricate a heat shield for it to protect it from the engine and turbo heat. Also fit a mini pod above it to supply lots of cold air.

Mail me and I will send you some pics of my layout.

Cheers

Neal (UK MY98 with 311BHP and 298lbf)

Neal...Brilliant mate.
Thanks very much for that info.
I`ve got a splitter for the tmic, but i cant find it...typical.

The water spray sounds a good idea. I`ll definately look into it.

I will mail you in the morning, and if you could send a few pics, that would be ace.

What spec are you running to get 311 on the MY98 ??

Cheers again Neal. Top man.

A MAP sensor and a piece of hose to replace the MAF in case you didnt get that with the ECU.

Claudius... i was considering a hose to replace the MAF actually, cos with Gems it's redundant.
Also looked at the hose for the otherside of the MAf...but they aint cheap.

Yeah made it out of cardboard first then once happy with the size, shape and fitting made it out of ally. After a few changes it fitted like a glove

with what you are planning to put on the car , wont the 440 injectors be holding you back and would not 550's be the better choice
