My 95 RA has a Z5 ECU. Confused that a 97 model has the same one. Is it definately an MY97 and not a late MY96?

ScoobyECU fits all cars up to and including MY96, that's why I asked. So yes it can be ScoobyECU'd. You can either buy an off-the-shelf map which will give you approx 280bhp with a decat exhaust, or you can get them custom-mapped by Pavlo (and maybe others)

is that mapped to uk 97 ron and i thought that the car was 260bhp standard, decat is 20-30 bhp on its own so with a scooby ecu shorely you would get more than that?

decat is 20-30 bhp
Youll find it is no more than 20bhp.

THe ecu maps to the lower fuel, increases boost as well as other stuff.

Get a custom map to maximise the full potential of your motor.

can i put the bigger injectors in as well, with the ecu and decat, which map does pavlo and others do? are they mapped with the safety limits of the engine?? i.e not going to blow up when i drive it and is it going to be a reliable 280bhp hassle free?

If you put the normal ScoobyECU in it is going to be good, but as with everything, be careful.

The ScoobyECU will map your fuel down to 97ron and bring a reliable 280bhp IMO.

You can put bigger injectors in but whats the point? Yours will be fine to 300bhp.

Pavlo and the others do a custom map to your car. Not just a generic map. They take into account your exhaust etc.

... and if you get the custom map, you can run much more boost. should be able to get 320 hp or so - will need injectors and fuel pump though,

how can you tell if its sti or not? because they only started painting the inlet manifolds quiet recently. just cos its not red uptop doesnt mean it isnt an sti does it?

i also have the fifth injector which should help, i thought if you had the fifth injector then it was 280bhp

I think it's a WRX Type RA (like mine).

Read off the model code under the bonnet (starts GC8...) to be sure.

They are all plugged in as standard, but I don't think the wire goes as far as the ECU unfortunately!
