Default quickshift gear change

i'm thinking of changing to a quickshift gear change on my04 wrx and i see that the subaru item is the whole linkage yet other manufacturers are just the gear lever, i was wondering if there was any major advantages or disadvantages between the 2 types of quickshift.

I've had both types and can't tell what the Subaru one does any better.
Both make a quicker but sometimes notchy select and both make a meal of shifts into 1st or reverse esp. when cold.
I'd recommend getting a non-Subaru one and spend the rest on other goodies.

The reason for the "Prodrive" item being the entire linkage is that it incorporates a harder rubber bush on the gearbox mounting end, which makes the entire mechanism feel firmer and less vague.

You can buy stiffer bushes as aftermarket items, as well as fiddle with the standard one to increase the clamping load on it, so all in all it's not really worth paying extra for the Prodrive product, you may as well get the stick from Rally Design for £37, sort the other end out yourself, and pocket the saving.

Thumbs up DO IT

Had the B & M one fitted at TSL 3 months ago (£150 + fitting)

What an excellent mod - transformed the changes up from 1-2, nice feel, really recommend it as one of the best vfm mods.

Cheers - go for it
