depends what you mean by "busted" ! If you mean total failure, then you have just lost control of the steering totally. As this means one wheel is now pointing opposite to the other and is about to throw you off the road.
if on the other hand, you mean "worn", then it can give a wobble on the steering or a slight clunk on turning the steering wheel on a slight lock to lock rocking motion, more normally noticed when inspected for MOT.
