Do you seriously think it will go through the MOT with a full decat?

AFAIK, if your car was originally fitted with a cat, then you have to pass the cat-equipped emmisions test.

A fully de-catted car hasn't a cat in hell chance of passing.

Last year, my local garage tried my car (UK MY99) with and without my centre cat. The results speak for themselves

cat removed

centre cat only

Ozzy's CO% is about the same as mine without the cat ..0.60% so I would say that is pretty typical for a full decat on a classic.

Have a look in for sale, I've seen a few floating about recently, centre section would be the easiest to fit.

I have seen other types of cars just squeeze under the 0.30 limit without a cat fitted (my old zetec XR3 being one ). But with the low compression ratio and poor induction tract at idle, the scooby has no chance.

People will probably try to charge you more for an OE centre as they know it's for MOT purposes

They should be cheap as chips to buy 2nd hand, especially from an MY99/00 car.
