Smile ecu swop.

hi, i've just changed my ae802 "green" ecu for a ae800 in my MY00 turbo. it was dead easy even for me.

i expect most people looking at this section know how to do this but for those who don't.....

here's the ae800

the ecu is in the passanger footwell undr the carpet, just undo the two plastic screws top right and top left (not shown in photo) and pull back the carpet.

there's a metal plate underneath. undo the 4 bolts, one hidden at top, the edges are a bit sharp, try not to get your own blood on your ecu.

here's the green label ecu, only 2 more bolts to undo. pull out the connections on the left.

and replace with the new ecu.

then put everything back together..

easy.

cheers matt.

ps it's taken me longer to post this than change the ecu

hi,

yes, driving around today my car does feel faster, how much of this is psychological due to it being a new "toy" i don't know. also i'm still impresed how easy it was to fit.

i didn't realise before the amount of hesitation i had with the "green" ecu just before/ as the turbo spins up. it all seems a bit smoother so far.

cheers matt.

Matt,
I recent;y fitted an 801, into my my00, and can't believe the difference, I've even removed the dawes that I had before, as it's better now without it!!!
More economical too!!

hi ron,

i'd heard it was worth doing, and i remember reading somewhere on here that the original ecutek 1 was more or less like swopping from green to black/brown.

ps still got tread on those toyos you sold me, 8k miles later obviously not trying hard enough on the road.

i swap to my old b'stones for track days.

pps track day tues april 27th at castle combe organised by tracey off scoobyzone/sw-pc.com if you or anyone you know is free.

Hi Matt,
Didn't recognise the Name sorry, but I know now!
I always did say those toyos were good, Thrilled with my ecu, the best £100 I spent on the car!!
Will bear Castle Combe in mind, not all that keen on doing a whole day there, I've already fallen off there once big time!
