As i have now owned my MY98 UK Turbo wagon for 2 days I am itching to do some subtle mods. Would like to hit 300BHP without spending megabucks.

Few questions if anyone can help.

1) Best backbox for power gain without too many dBs! (magnex has been mentioned)?
2) Is superchips upgrade any good?? noticed its £511 fitted whilst ECUtek is £760 fitted from scoobyworld website
3) Will a new air filter/induction kit make any real difference?

Just about to order some jewel clear front indicators & side repeaters from TSL motorsport but not sure about their back boxes.

I know i can half/full decat for loads more performance but don't want to have to keep changing at MOT time.

You are asking to find 92 Bhp for "not megabucks"
Superchips are a waste of money due to the crude method of increasing the power. Ecutek don't cater for your car (MY99 onwards only)
Have a wander into the Tech section and mention dawes device
To reach 300, a full decat is gonna be needed, unless you do spend megabucks
I recommend you to float around Scoobynet and learn a few things before you make a few costly errors. Many people have been in the exact same position as you, and will have essential advice!

I must admit i did find no pre99 info on ECUtek website. Damn it!

Assume there are no good ECU mods then for the MY98?

Do you think i would pass emmissions test if i had half decat, meaning removing only the cat closest to the backbox?

Seen Magnex and Hayward and Scott mentioned often. Any idea which would give me biggest power gain?

Will have a look around forums for more info on Dawes etc. Shame forums doesn't have a search facility for all BUT as i have designed and installed a number i know the load they place on servers.

Sorry for all the questions....i hate being a newbie!

MY98 unfortunatly is the rotten egg of Impreza land when it comes to ECU mods, but fear not, Scoobynet will show you the way.
If you're lucky - someone will sort you out with the Dawes FAQ.
IMO Magnex is the way forward as we are essentially talking about a metal tube, so cash is King
A Magnex centre will cost around £65 and backbox around £215. I personally had the Magnex 3.5" but have now changed to a Scoobyworld Ninja which is £5 cheaper but much more amusing to look at without being too noisey!
