Fuel Pump relay..?
ok, an ongoing problem for over a week now..
The problem is *not the fuel pump itself though..unlike CharlieH:
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/showt...uel+Pump+Relay
I have switched the fuel pumps several times now to see if there was a problem there (Walbro>OE>walbro>OE>Walbro)
Switched ECU's four times now (LINK>OE>LINK>OE)
I thought it was an ECU problem.. as switching back to the OE802 the first time seemed to make the problem go away.. ????
then I switched back to link once I thought the ISCV had been reset, and a day later it died again. no fuel pump priming. grrrr
Put a 12V feed directly into the pump connector and the fuel pump is working.. but running very very lumpy on the LINK. mini misfires..no visible damage to the board though..
today put the OE ECU in so that the LINK could be looked at in more depth, and out of curiosity I disconnected the temporary 12V feed.. the car wouldnt start (no priming of the fuel pump) FFS!!!!!
reconnected it and it started just fine WITH the OE ECU...
SO; the real question is: Between the ECU and the pump, is it just the Wiring to the relay and the relay itself that I have to troubleshoot?
** I have a clifford 600, but the rest of alarm seems fine and the fob works to switch off the immobiliser (I have wireless fuel pump immobiliser too) no idea how to check if the clifford IS responsible.. ??? (that'd be SO typical)
Also it still doesnt expalin why the car ran so lumpily after reconnecting the LINK once the 12V feed was on to the pump.. ??? ** surely the 12V override should not have worked if the clifford was to blame?? It would be binary surely not running badly?
whats the email for Dr.Clifford btw??
Beginning to lose my rag now with this.. any ideas?
Anything I missed thats glaringly obvious?
Car is MY00 UK spec btw.

Did you check the pump connection under the back seat?
How long ago did you have the Clifford fitted. If problem started soon after, i'd be checking the wiring for the alarm.

Hi Alan, yup checked the connector under the back seat. no probs.
all present and correct.. although didnt check for voltage as Im a scaredy cat around electrics.. seems fecking time I learnt as Im thoroughly naffed off with it all..
The Clifford was fitted a LONG time ago by previous owner= Chiark
fitted by Max @ Maximum Impact (who no longer works there as he sold up)
The thing is; if it was the clifford- would it not still immobilise the pump despite the 12V override?
as an aside; that seems a bad thing security wise if thats not the case...
I have no idea which wire to check for anyway.. in fact will give the local stroppy alarm guys a ring tomorrow anyway, and no doubt feel like a numptie yet again.. (they are not that friendly tbh)

pages 26, 27, 56, 57, 64 and 65 are relevant for 2.0L Turbo cars (saves others having to go trawling thru)
looks relatively simple for the fuel pump - there are not many things in the 'chain' from the ECU to the pump..
just got to isolate one thing at a time and test it.. *sigh
AND I will get the alarm checked just in case..

btw.. you pull the output from the ecu low to power the pump.
you can get odd things happening if you try the wrong things
