Yes it does, its in the downpipe.
All cars that have cats fitted after 1989 as standard need them by law, all other cars had to have them fitted from new as of 1st Jan 1993.
People will tell you that because its an import you dont need to, this is actually incorrect as it needs one to pass the SVA emissions test.

Unless it was a personal import and didn't have a SVA test !!!
Ditch the cat....decat up to MY95 on an import can pass the MOT as long as it meets the default limits
HC 1200ppm (limit)
CO 3.5% (limit)
Lamda (no limit)
steve.

ALL grey imports have to pass an SVA test for roadworthyness before they can be registered, if your car hasnt had this then id be pretty worried as your either not correctly registered or you have a ringed car, id check their site out but i cannot remember the address
It is also still ILLEGAL to run a car produced with a cat after 1989 and decat it (even though my last car did and ran a 0.01% co2 value )
Just be warned.

As i stated before, all cars that have had cats fitted to them after 1989 need them on to comply with the law, as for not being sva'd, i thought they no longer let you bring in cars that are over 10 years old? plus how many over 10 year old cars that havnt been sva'd are right offs and you dont know due to the fact they are not checked by anyone?
A bit fishy if you ask me.
