EGT installed - now what?
#1
Hiya fellow 'netters.
I've just installed my Autometer EGT gauge, and sensor (cheers Mike T @ Scoobymania)...and being cautious as always I've installed it after the turbo, the idea of the sensor breaking apart and ending up in the impeller kinda scared me.
What kind of temperatures should I expect to see here on boost? What is good...what is Bad News (tm)?
I've heard that high 900:s (degrees celsius) is max - before the turbo, but what about after?

Hi Jerry,
I've fitted a Defi-link EGT gauge to my 94 WRX . Peak readings so far have been 620 C ( but then I drive like a wuss ! )I fitted the thermocouple into the Scooby-mania downpipe I put on the car. If you have a cat fitted the EGT temperature will be higher though ..
Hope this helps.
Regards,
John

Just back from a prolonged drive at naughty 3 figure speeds...
It seems to hold around 1250 degrees Farenheit - 676 degrees celsius.
I'm running a Link, VF24 and no cats (full Scoobysport zorst) on my MY00 euro spec scoob. Boost is set at 18 psi's (~1.2 bar).
I think that's ok, it's going up to 1300-1350 degrees farenheit on flat out runs (>120 mph).
Not that I've done these tests on public roads or so...
Cheers

On high boost, there is between a 150~200C drop through the turbo. So to be on the safe side, you want to see a max' of about 750~775C after the turbo.
