Has anyone heard of gear box's seizing while travelling normally ?

Mine seems to have seized when in second gear but have no idea why. Oil was checked regularly as was all the other checks on the car.

Just wondered if anyone knew of a general problem. Appreciate any info or web sites with more info.

Yep I've heard of that - can't remember what causes it though...I think it's something to do with different selectors doing something at the wrong time...not too sure but logically that's all that can happen mostly as all gears are in constant mesh anyway..pretty rare I think..usually 2nd lets go under power...although the close ration RA boxes should be less prone to stripping gears.

Can you get it out of second, if not then it has snapped a selector fork. If you can get it out then it is probably bent or about to snap.

I had this happen on my gearbox not that long ago.
