About £150-200 for a new one plus fitting. These things are especially prone to failing if they're not retracted the correct way when removing/replacing the timing belt.
There's a documented procedure in the service manual for resetting that dealers should follow, so if it sounds like it's knackered after the change but was fine before, I'd be tempted to roll up and ask them what they're willing to do about it.

I had one fitted to my 2000MY when the cambelt was changed by Len at Subaru4you, he charged me £124 for the new tensioner and fitted it at the same time, mine wasn't noisy but was leaking fluid.

Mine was also replaced under warranty - MY00. Wasn't making any noises but when the cambelt was changed dealer noted tensioner was leaking and replaced it. Cost (to Subaru) was c.£200.
