Exclamation

ok so im not sure if this is clutch slip or what.

in 1st gear, from standstill, high revs and release the clutch quickly (not dump it).. i end up with the revs rising quickly, but the car going very slowly... even when i change up to 2nd after it occurs in 1st revs rise fast, but the car is slow. pulling away with low revs is fine.

in ANY gear (even 1st), as long as the car is moving and i'm in gear, flooring it at any speed, the car is fine - the revs rise and the car goes fast.

it's been doing that for about the past 2 years.. the problem hasn't got any worse - it just doesn't feel like the car is getting into gear in 1st properly if i join the traffic light grand prix. years ago it was fine. doesnt bother me that much, but it'd be nice to sort it if its cheap.

there is no bad smell, and if i floor it in 4th/5th at any revs, everything is fine (those are usually the symptoms of clutch slip from what i read.. which makes me wonder if what ive described as being wrong my car is something different).

anyone know what my problem is? and could someone help resolve my clutch/gear issue too!

thanks!

sounds silly... could the clutch be worn, and you 'beating' the clutch?

that was my initial thinking.. but its been like this for like 2-3 years without getting any worse.

if it was worn/wearing out.. how could it last another 40k miles without any slip in the other gears (where torque is MUCH higher)?
