Heavy Clutch Pedal and Slip after I let a wxnker take car for a test drive
#1
A guy took MY99 for a test drive this morning and whilst powering on went from 4th to 3rd instead of 5th at about 75MPH. I told him to "watch the gear change". Anyway after he left I sat into the car and noticed the clutch pedal felt really heavey to push down and was biting much higher than normal.I Pulled away and it started to slip "aaaaaaaahhhhhhh" as I was taking off. After about 5 mins of driving the clutch returned to its normal feel and no more slip no matter how hard I pushed it. Any ideas guys?

Was it still stinking (literally) hot when heavy? Maybe your normal driving dissipated the excess heat into the flywheel etc and all settled down?
I had a similar thing happen to my STiv3 while racing it(!) and all was well after it all cooled down. Think you will be ok now!

My first Scooby was a UK 99. Ran it as a company car for 56K miles in 2 years, NOT all motorways....
My box had a fault that it slipped out of 5th on motorways. Andrew Burt Subaru (Wotton Wowen) close to you, fixed it in 20 mins.
The box never made any noises at all.
My much abused STiv3 box is noise free, so I recon your clutch is knackered. Get it dragged in and fixed!

I had a similar thing this morning on MY97 when cold and running late for train to work. I floored it in 4th at 50ish and it began to slip, put it in 5th and all seemed ok. I was certainly worried at work today expecting to need a new clutch, that's for sure!
On way home it felt fine (although I was driving steadily) so will see how things go.
