Having some problems mith my 95 wagon. When turbo spools upto about 1bar in 3rd, 4th and 5th i am having what feels like an overboost problem, if the throttle is kept on, it will repeatedly cut hard and then pick up again. It has started to get a lot worse these past couple of days, cannot give more than about 25-50% throttle. Been told that this is a possible boost solenoid failure (had it cleaned, but still no good!!). Anyone else experienced similar problems, or know if this is the case as a replacement is going to cost (3 port not 2 port solenoid). Any help or thoughts would be appreciated, before scoobysport extract even more money from me!!!

Thanks in advance

Roly

When you say you cleaned the solenoid, how? Overfilling oil can lead to oil getting into the boost solenoid and it's pipework. If this has happened, you need to remove some oil and then clean everything out - solenoid and pipes. And i/c if also oily.

Use the green under dash connectors to put the car into test mode - this will cycle operation of the solenoid. Turn it upside down and squirt cleaner through it while it's operating. Keep away from cooling fans - test mode also operates these

No after market induction kit has been fitted, and the cleaning of the solenoid was done by the mechanics at Scoobysport while I was having some other bits and bobs done, so am pretty sure it was done properly!. Just wanted to know if the symptoms sound right!

Cheers for you help

Wouldn't have thought this was the same problem, as I am experiencing it all the time - more than 50% throttle = cutout. Cold weather/air will make you car run quicker and also the turbo loves it. Would presume that you are experiencing overboost due to the turbo pulling harder, but I am no techie!! (have had this problem on turbo cars as well - always looked forward to winter though;-))
