in 3rd and 5th gear the box makes a chattering ticking kind of noise on decelleration coming up to juntion traffic light if i hold onto gear stick it either gets worse or better depending which way i pull it
dealer where i got car from says they all do it to some extent
DOES YOURS?or is he a full of it !!!!!!

stop your car quickly .
it can be the nut losen at the end of shaft,or the third pinion
going to die.

i have a new shape wrx which is making same sort of noise when slowing also but in all gears.noise is coming from rear of g.box.what could that be ??

sounds like i need to go give the dealer a kick up the *** and get it fixed a.s.a.p

Have you checked the likes of your gearbox oil (dipstick is next to the intercooler in the enginebay).

just gone out in it car going ok then a sceeching noise and smoke every where and so thick it was coming out of bonnet vent and i had to get out of car AS I WAS CHOKING
i belive it was the clutch?
would this noise hav anyting to do with it?
only had car two weeks pissed off now
might get money back

engine is now knocking at low rpm clutch now judders on pick up and car won't engage starter first time
i think i going to get my money back!!!!!!
