Anyone have any recommendations about getting a H&S backbox and Magnex decat centre, I can have the pair for £200 (fitted). What kind of gains (if any) could I expect from this combo?
And is the H&S backbox(4" Exit) very loud? (I dont want a loud drainpipe)

I have this on my MY00. You should get about 15bhp-18bhp with the backbox and centre. A downpipe will give you another 15.
I reckon the H&S backbox is great although I think mine only has 3" exit.

Thanks Screamer
Have you had to make any other mods, just a bit conscious about looking after the engine?
Does this combo give a nice low rumble without being overly loud when under acceleration and what dya think of the price.. seem right to you?

I can't comment on the Janspeed set-up as I don't have one. I don't think it makes much difference what d/p or centre you buy, it's the back box that makes the difference.
Initially I started out just changing the rear silencer. Very pleased (not too loud at all). Next I fitted the de-cat centre... this made the exahust note a little deeper but still not too loud even on the motorway (got the straight through Magnex centre, but you can get one with a silencer). Then I changed the d/p. Now that does make it louder, especially on the motorway. On tick over it just sounds a little deeper than before but when you nail it it roars. A bit too loud for the motorway to be honest (even though I did wrap the d/p)
£200 is a good price for both b/b and centre especially if that's fitted. That's about what I paid for mine but then I had to fit it.
I've also had a Dawes fitted by Powerstation. You can fit these yourself but I wanted to ensure the mixtures were correct.

Do a search on Dawes Device.. there are loads of threads. Basically it allows you to raise the boost pressure (more power). It's also supposed to improve spool up time and help deliver the boost more smoothly.
A great little mod for the money. I saw one today on the for sale board for £25 new they cost about £50 new.

Hi mate, if you were worried about your warranty, don't bother with a dawes, you can't hide it, if you want more power that's not easy to see by the garage get a remap like I did

Cheers Jim,
I'll have a proper chat with you when we hook up for a beer later this week. I'll give you a call Friday to arrange.
