Question

94 WRX , recently developed a whistling noise when the car idles appears to be coming from the front of the car . I had the auxilary belts changed last service and wonder if it could be bearings in one of the many front brass wheels running the air con and alternator belts ?

Any ideas ?

My UK MY99 has a noise which sounds like bearings coming from the air-con and alternator belts at the front of the engine. And my father-in-law to be diagnosed it. The belts are clearly absorbing moisture - when you spray a little WD40 (*very* small amount, don't want any slipping) they go silent straight away.

Since my car's been doing it for quite a while, maybe recent belts doesn't mean they're necessarily OK. No other probs with mine though - they don't slip.
