Hesitation when accelerating upwards in 2nd gear with MY01...

Hi Richards,
I have the same Problem combined with a very unsteady performance curve.
After an ECU update from Subaru Germany the hesitation has become a little bit better, but especially the boost behaviour is still unacceptable.
You only get full boost with full throttle and this makes no fun I can tell you :-((.
Unichip is waiting....

Frank, mine passed 1600km today and I've just got back from a short test thrash.
As you say, full boost only obtained at full throttle. Even slightly less pedal position produces no more than .7 bar. Mine was the first car in Germany to have this software, on the day I collected it 3 weeks ago (from Allrad Auto). Did the old software do this?
UK owners - are your cars the same?
It's a few years since I had my Cos but I'm sure that once that was over 4000 you only had to breathe on the throttle for the boost gauge to leap to max boost.

It appears that I have the same problem, but in every gear and only if you partially press the throttle (96 WRX). I am also at a loss as to understand why. I have just fitted an induction kit which seems to have helped a bit, its very mild now, but still happening.

The old software did it and the new software does it as well.
But with the new software the car seems to be more responsive with a markable gain on power @4500u/min.
The engine revs better up to the red line, but after every gearchange (esp. 3-4-5) there is a lot of lag (more than my MY99),then comes a boostpeak up to 1.1 bar, then it goes down to 0,8, then after aound 0,3-0,5 s, the ECU thinks that it could increase the boost to 0,95bar again.
This is not as I am thinking a "Sportwagen" should be -Brrrrr :-(

Frank, I'm not seeing 1.1 bar, that's for sure - 0.9 max.
I'm going to take the wife with me tomorrow so we should be able to get a more precise picture of what's happening.
Wedsnesday, I have a day off and will be going to Allrad Auto for a bit of a chat about this crap.

UK WRX only get 0.9 bar!!!
I find that even with foot planted, if your already on boost it only goes up to 0.7 bar - if you wallop it from no boost you get 0.9 bar
I posted about this - told that its normal and subaru's way of preserving the engine. You have to change down or back off the throttle and then back on hard. I find changing downs the best bet!!
Ive not noticed the hesitation at all - so finger crossed it'll be ok!!
