non geniune engine bearings

when build a motor has anyone tried using non geniune main and big end bearings, iam looking at using ACL bearings as they are far cheaper than geniune items... any ideas or comments on after market forged pistons and suppliers...

The ACL bearings are very good, and a lead copper type, instead of the OEM ally ones.

We trialled ACL in a low horsepower engine [UK] then a WRX 240 hp then an STi - with the owners consent and knowledge etc., long before we went over to them universally.

They have been very good and we are happy to use them in everything.

No problems recorded here.

tnanks for the advice, will head down the ACL bearing road... any comments on JE pistons...
