Has anyone got a New Age Sti up on a ramp currently? I need the exact length of the propshaft - can someone measure for me?
Should be measured from the end of gearbox output shaft's metal shroud (covers the splines) all the way to the joint with the rear axle casing.
Mucho Thanks, Richard

Thanks Skassa - but I can't afford it, and don't fancy stealing one unless really necessary I have a spare classic prop to shorten, and a company lined up to do the work....just need to know the length!
Edited to add: what does r160 designate, and what about r180? I have an STi (I assume) 3.9 rear diff to go into mine as the box is the JDM one requiring the different drop gear; I'm assuming/hoping it's the same size as my current Euro spec diff? Otherwise I'll need some more bits!
Cheers, Richard

Richard, The 160 is what we sent you. which is correct for your car etc. The 180 is supplied on Type R V4 upwards cars and is just physically bigger all over. Side drive shafts, hubs etc are also bigger together with 'Subaru' calipers.
Even the 22B still has the 'little' diff ??

Cheers Davids and Mark, perfect
David (API) - I'm also assuming the diff is plated?
And further (just for my interest), are the driveshafts the same for both 180 and 160?

john banks has a picture of both prop shafts.
we decided the sti7 shaft was about 60mm shorter, from the grearbox to centre mount part, with the same rear section.

Revised my post - I guess it doesn't matter too much if it's a little short? Is the prop supposed to slide all the way on until it buts up against the output shaft in OE fitment, or is a few mm's short OK?
Edited to completely change my post, sorry
Richard

Yes, it must be re-balanced
The stock STi7 prop will go straight on, but I'd have to buy it new (David @ API didn't have stock when I ordered)...it's cheaper for me to modify.
