If you're thinking of de-catting a V4 STi then also get an afr gauge, they can run lean after de-catting causing det. Which is not good.

Are you getting lights up as standard? If so, i'd get it checked. Presume you are using optimax and octane booster?

Its basically quite expensive for an ECU. Try and get a 2nd hand Link ECU for about £350 ish, then get it mapped by Bob Rawle, another £350. Other years have much cheaper options than 97/98, but there are things happening on that front.

It may just be you need an uprated fuel pump and reg. Stick a post in Gen technical. Its worth some expert advice as there may be slim chance your MAF is dying and causing it to run lean.

You can also check the ECU for fault codes...
