We fitted the linkage today, not yet the gearbox.

Anyone that has fitted this to a classic Subaru can you report if the gearknob sits much higher? We have yet to get an STi 7 gearknob, but due to the uplift on selecting reverse it looks quite tall.

Skassa, what gaiter and **** are you using?

Is it possible/advisable to wire the reverse lever so the uplifter does not need to be used?

Already have the STi short shift linkage. Perhaps I'll need to judge it's height and throw when the box is in.

it is high in mine.. i think it may be due to differences with the sti 7 - 8 shell differences..

nothing a chop and tig wont sort..

not high on my priority list though.. painting the bonnet is though

If you chop and MIG it, are you planning on wiring the reverse lever on the box to do away with the uplifter?

Okay i got it.

The gaitor is the OE 5speed one that i just made a bigger hole in the top,

Then just put it on, and use a thin wire to hold it from the inside .

Like the pic ,up aganst the grey ring.
