Been looking at options and scoobyclinics 'race clutch' for 475+VAT (supply and fit) seems very very good..
is it too good to be true?
http://www.scoobyclinic.com/performance.htm
my OE has started slipping in 5th and 4th in the last two days (had a week since project was completed)
clutch needs to be able to take around 300+bhp/300lbft+
any quality alternatives at sensibe prices?
thoughts?

If I'm right in thinking they are Exedy clutches (??), I'm pretty sure I had an exedy clutch put in mine (came from that part of the world too). Strangely light operation IMO, not really to my liking (but each to their own), I prefer a heavy feeling clutch. Mine was fine for a year or so of me running (1.1bar, nothing crazy) and was 'supposed' to be rated to take more torque than AP clutch. However I had an AP in my GTi-R and prefered the feel. Not very scientific I know, and it's prob not even an Exedy clutch, lol

all SC would tell me is that they are made in OZ..
Gaffer? /SpecialX? can you provide more info?
Also need to verify the ratings, and the validity of the rating guarantee..
john: cheers. I will bear the AP one in mind

As you know my car had crudely 16000 miles on it when all the mods and mapping were finished, at which point the standard clutch started to slip, but nothing dramatic.
It finally went pete tong about 12000 miles later after my 1st drag racing day at elvington, silly launch basically.
Upon changing to another clutch the car has taken a lot more abuse, ie 3 elvingtons, totb at elvington and scoobyshootout at elvington, where it must have done 60+ launches, and only once did it slip!
Car now has 45000 miles on clock, oh **** needs cambelt change, and the clucth works fine.
Some will say that my car does not have the power or the torque to test the clutch in question, but seeing as our cars are very similar, then i would think the same clutch would be upto the job on your car.
If you want to discuss it further let me know

No knowledge of S/Clinics clutch which may be wothwhile if others have tried it first but as one of the cars referred to above by J.B. I can confirm I am on my second AP Organic Uprated and these are available from Bob Rawle Developments, John Pye Motorsport, Quest Mead and various others. In the absence of information from those that have tried the clutch you have partial information on, I hope this helps.
