Question

I have noticed recently when theres been a long night of rain or its a particularly damp in the morning my 94 wrx becomes hesitant from cold with low idling on the revs and reluctance to pull properly through the revs, until the car comes well up to standard temparature.

Could it be the plugs

Any suggestions appreciated

"Wet" plugs on a boxer engine isnt a likely scenario unless the entire engine's been immersed in water, as in a bad flood. Do you have the bonnet vents removed, are you running an aftermarket air filter .. if the filter element is wet, the engine tends to be lumpy [engine gets hot, filter element dries and all is ok, again].

Hi Lumby,

Just had the same problem on my95 WRX. Car ran fine when hot, bad when wet (after washing). Turned out to be a split coil pack.

Steve.

My '93 WRX with HKS induction kit doesn't like the wet either, but I don't think the engine bay gets wet though. Both my bonnet vents are still closed.
Sometimes it stutters a hell of a lot when its wet but then sometimes it doesn't - one of those things that are really annoying and hard to trace!

Cheers,

Philip

I have a 93 WRX with HKS greenmushroom thing, & drivers side vent is open, all is fine even after standing for several days in the rain it fires and drives fine.

Sounds like it is running a bit lean until it is at normal temperature. Wet weather usually means the engine is breathing cold dense air which coupled with a better breathing filter may be affecting the mixture. If you blip the throttle does it hesitate, this can indicate a weak mixture.
